Brammibal’s Donuts in Berlin Neukölln is specialised on one specific treat – as you might guess: donuts. But it gets even better – they are fully vegan, and so is the whole offer at the café. And I can tell you: These guys know their job well!
Two years ago a friend of mine told me about a brand new café that opened at beautiful Maybachufer: Brammibal’s Donuts. Since then, I became a devoted visitor at their sweet little store. And seriously, I have to get there at least once a month – because they change their fancy special donut menu every 30 days. The Brammibal’s team seems to have an endless source of inspiration concerning the creation of new flavours: from blueberry lavender donuts, white chocolate cream filled ones, to a coconut glazed donut with a chocolate cookie on top – they always NAIL it. Countless blogposts from people from all over the world praise „Europes first vegan donut store“ so now it has moved on from a secret spot towards a real classic in the vegan scene in Berlin.
Last week Tabea and I tried two of their monthly specials, the rhubarb strawberry and the earl grey lemon donut. Biting into a donut, you always pass a tasty glazing before you get onto the very soft, airy and fatty dough. There are also filled ones, like the rhubarb donut. After few bites the sour, slightly sweetened compote will drip out of the donut – get it before it lands on your plate! You will definitely eat it way too fast and your stomach will hurt a bit at first, but it will be worth it! On to the next one!
While dreaming of donuts I almost forgot to mention their very good coffee and matcha latte (served with oat milk and beautiful latte art creations), their organic teas and their sandwiches. At the moment, they offer vegan melted cheese, BLT and hummus sandwiches.
My advice: When you want to make sure you get your favorite donut, you can preorder them on their website – they are sold out very often before 6 pm. And: you can check out all the monthly specials there! People in Prenzlauer Berg, time to celebrate: a new dependance just opened at Danziger Straße 65. Last note: On weekends the café is hopelessly crowded. So better take your donuts with you and eat them outside at Maybachufer or at home instead of waiting to get a seat inside.
ON THE MENU: Donuts, often cakes and sandwiches.
PRICES: One donut 2.50€, set of four 8.00€, Cappuccino: 2.80€.
VIBES: Clean, modern, lots of plants.
DOWNER: Crowded on weekends. If your stomach is sensible to fatty food, better just eat one donut 😉
PICKY NOTES: Everything is vegan. Gluten free cakes available.
